Today marks exactly two weeks until my move to Kentucky! This weekend seemed like a mini celebration to start the two week countdown. The mini celebration consisted of a lot of beach time, which in turn, makes it very hard to visualize myself loving Kentucky. I know I will like Kentucky, but sometimes it seems like San Diego could have everything I need. On Friday, I spent time paddle boarding with some of my family in Coronado, beautiful downtown San Diego as my backdrop. I paddled around, took some time to lay on a sandy beach, then paddled back to shore. The paddle board session was followed by lunch. I, of course, got shrimp tacos, which were delicious. After our lunch we did some shopping at Road Runner and R.E.I. Then that night I enjoyed a family dinner. Beach, food, shopping and family-sounds pretty perfect huh?

In case my Friday wasn't good enough, Saturday morning was spent at the bay on our jet skis. The whole family got to come down to the bay. We haven't taken the jet skis out in awhile, so it was good to get the whole family together for that. We took the skis to the open ocean and jumped some big wakes. It almost felt like I was a kid again. We even saw some dolphins (they're my favorite animals!!) And, we of course, had the paddle boards to enjoy. That was followed by an afternoon swimming in pool, AND I still have half the day left ! (Gym time..I guess)

So, as you can tell from my weekend, it feels like San Diego has everything I could ever need: Family, friends and fun. Fun is a vague word, so here it will mean great weather, outdoor activities and the beach. This weekend ALMOST made me question whether I should move. But how can I know that San Diego has everything I need if I don't go live other places? How do I know that those places don't have the same great opportunities and activities.
That is my rant for my two week countdown. The bittersweet reality that I will soon be leaving such a great city and family to go live in an unknown place where I don't know anyone, but that's where I can find the adventure in it all. It's not like I'm moving to Mars!
For those who don't know me, my name is Kaila. I am a 22 year old doctoral student, originally from San Diego, CA, making a new home in Louisville, KY. I am a running and fitness enthusiast, world traveler and food lover. I take too many pictures and try to find myself in as many adventures as possible. Might as well enjoy it all while I'm young. Join me on my journey of moving, conquering a doctorate, seeing as much of the world as possible and trying to have the most fun while I can.

This blog is originally being made so anyone who wants to know how my move or school is going can read it here. It's basically an easier way for people to keep up with my always chaotic life.

To start it off, I just returned from a 10 day trip to Thailand and India. The trip was amazing. I saw so many great things in each place and took tons of pictures that I will eventually post somewhere. I love to travel and India is definitely a place everyone should try to go. I mean, who doesn't want to see the Taj Mahal? India and Thailand both have so many beautiful places and so many temples and forts. The architecture is amazing! If anyone wants to know more about the trip, feel free to comment :)
Being back in the States means one important thing : my big move is getting closer and closer! I plan on moving August 10, which means I have a lot of packing to do! The countdown has started, I have less than 3 weeks, 19 days to be exact. And these 19 days are about to be so bittersweet. I am excited for my new adventure. I'm excited to meet new people, live somewhere new and pursue my dream, but I am sad to be moving so far away from the people I love. In the end it will be great, and everyone is giving me a lot of support!
There will be more updates and plenty of countdowns in anticipation of the move!
